Journals size & guide

Build the journal that works for you

A good journal should fit the life you're carrying it through.

Below is a little size guide in plain terms, so you can match the journal to your pocket, your bag, or your desk.

Two decisions

Every journal is built from an edition (the size) and a format (the closure).

Get the size for where it'll live, then the closure for how it'll be handled.

01 — Edition

How big & where it lives

The Daily, The Chronicle, or The Archive. This is about the size. You can find a size from Pocket, book bag, or desk.

02 — Format

How it closes & how it covers

Classic, Trifold, or Lockfold. This is about access and protection. How fast you can get in, and how much the cover protects the pages.

Editions

Edition 01

Daily - pocket size

Built to be carried. Fits in a jacket's breast pocket, so it's on you where ever you need it. Best suited to shorter entries taken on the go.

Edition 02

Chronicle - A5

For most people this is the standard. Comfortable writing space while being small enough to go in a bag.

Edition 03

Archive - A4

This is the size that most people keep at an office desk or in a studio rather than in a bag. A standard full page size.

Formats

Format 01

Classic — bifold

Opens like a book. One fold and nothing wrapping around the edge. Quickest format to get in and out of.

Format 02

Trifold

A "Trifold" panel that wraps around the pages entirely. leaves nothing exposed. More material, more protection.

Format 03

Lockfold — trifold + snap

The exact same wrap-around construction as the Trifold, with a metal snap at the closing edge. The most secure journal.
